Rotational molding is the process of making hollow plastic parts. Unlike processes such as blow molding, rotational molding yields a much more uniform wall thickness and the ability to create greater part strength. |
| |
Mold Preparation – The mold, which is a hollow tool, is filled with powdered resin and mounted on the arm of the rotational molding machine. |
| |
The Molding Process – The mold is moved into a large oven where it is rotated in two directions at one time, called biaxial rotation. As the resin melts, the interior of the mold is coated evenly. |
| |
The Cooling Process – Once the material reaches its optimum cohesive temperature, it is moved to the cooling area where it is showered with water and air until the resin has hardened and the part is formed. Finally, the part is removed for finishing. |

The Benefits of Rotational Molding |
Cost Effective – Rotational molding is a cost effective approach to producing large seamless parts from polyethylene, nylon and other materials. Production can be scaled up quickly and the tooling is less expensive relative to other forms of molding, allowing you to rapidly respond to market opportunities |
Design Flexibility – Rotational molding allows for more freedom in designing your products. Designs can include features such as molded in threads, thick corners and heavily ribbed structures. Rotational molding also offers a variety of external finishes, including textured wood grains, stone, mat and glossy. Color changes are also easy. |
Quality & Durability – Rotational molding can produce the high quality that you demand for your products. The parts we produce are rugged, durable and have exceptional load bearing strength.
Finishing Flexibility – Rotational molding offers many finishing options for your products. Multiple color options as well as graphics molded into the part or applied later in the process allow you to customize your product. And because of the nature of the rotational molding process, colors and graphics are easily changed from part to part. Your product can also have a shiny finish or dull, depending on what you believe is best for its application. |
